Petite Sirah is one of America's first true varietals, dating back to the 1880's. Luckily, it is a very sustainable grape, so we have the priviledge of showcasing this wine in our portfolio today. Since our first release of Petite Sirah in 2000, it has been a favorite in our lineup. Who doesn't love a wine that continuously boosts its voluptuous, full body and dark, inky tendencies and then subtly leaves you with a wine that gracefully ages for years to come? Well, we sure do! And our 2006 vintage of Petite Sirah is definitely following suit to its predecessors.
In this vintage, you will find aromas of dark berries, cinnamon, cedar and anise while the palate is balanced with flavors of dark chocolate, blackberry, black currant, vanilla and allspice. Sourced 80% from Rodney's Vineyard and 20% from Camp Four Vineyard, we then aged this wine for 20 months in 40% new French and American oak to capture the rich, earthy undertones that we have come to love in this wine.
Enjoy this Petite Sirah with a rack of lamb, beef stew or a decadent, dark chocolate dessert.
