Due to its difficult growing tendancies, Roussanne is a grape that many growers try to stay away from. But, luckily for us, the growers at Camp Four Vineyard have embraced this grape wholeheartedly. And we are happy that they do, otherwise, we would have never experienced the special qualities that this grape has to offer.
Our 2007 Roussanne showcases unique aromas of honeysuckle, lemon cream, light toast, fresh pastry, beeswax and wet stone. The rich palate of this wine exhibits honey, papaya, butter, vanilla, lemon meringue, melon and a slight touch of oak.
It was aged for 9 months in 100% French oak which helps impart the creamy, elegant qualities in this wine while still embracing a slight bit of fresh acidity that this grape is known for. Though this is an excellent wine to enjoy while young, it will also hold up well with cellaring. Pair this wine with halibut, lobster, duck and Mediterranean food.
